Driver of stolen car collides with bear’s body: Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS — A stolen vehicle reportedly collided with a bear’s dead body, kept driving and ended up in flames over the weekend.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they were investigating a suspected stolen car at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 2) when it sped away and collided with a bear carcass on a stretch of Highway 5.

“Soon after, officers observed the vehicle engulfed in flames on the Frontage Road in Rayleigh and confirmed it to be a Mazda stolen from a business on Aug. 19,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.

Police say a suspect was found and arrested nearby and was released pending further investigation.

Anyone with information that may be related to the stolen vehicle or the fire is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
