Infrared mapping highlight growth on Ross Moore Lake Wildfire
KAMLOOPS — The cooler temperatures and lower overall humidity are assisting the B.C. Wildfire Service in battling the Ross Moore Lake wildfire south of Kamloops.
Despite the fact that all evacuation orders in the vicinity of the Ross Moore Lake fire have been lifted, the more than 11,000-hectare blaze is still considered out of control.
“We did have some infrared scanning [Monday] night which provided an updated track of the growth on the southwest flank. There was some growth a few days ago and, as a whole, it is now estimated at 11,383 hectares in size. Our crews are working in that southern flank, primarily working direct attack on the fire perimeter and pushing into the fire to help secure that fire perimeter, and conduct mop up and look for those hot spots,” said BCWS Fire Information Officer Aydan Coray.
