KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) says it is getting close to being able to downgrade some of the Evacuation Orders created by the Bush Creek East wildfire as it swept through Adams Lake and Little Shuswap Lake.

During a virtual public information meeting Friday (Sept. 1), TNRD Emergency Operations Centre Director Kevin Skrepnek said, “we’re optimistic that for Loakin-Bear Creek and for the properties on Little Shuswap, that we could be looking at moving those to an alert later this weekend.”

Skrepnek added that the status of properties from Adams Lake to the Holding Road bridge will depend on the progress made by BC Hydro and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in terms of getting that road cleared of dangerous trees.
