KAMLOOPS – The donation collected on Wednesday (Aug. 23) in Kamloops has been delivered to the Lakeview Community Centre in Anglemont.

Abbey Bereti, a Kamloops woman filled a 53-foot trailer with goods for Shuswap residents in need. After learning about the damage caused by the Bush Creek East wildfire in the Shuswap, Bereti sent out a Facebook message looking for support. “Learning that we had multiple friends who lost their homes during these fires, I couldn’t sit back and watch any longer without helping,” she said.

The community came together to support people impacted by the wildfires.

The permit to enter the evacuation zone was secured late Tuesday night. “Despite having a permit to access Anglemont via the Squilax Anglemont Highway, our driver was turned away at the checkpoint. We ended up having to take the load back to Kamloops until we could figure out a plan B. Through trucks, fork lifts, barges and vehicles, the donations were delivered successfully today (Wednesday) ” says Abbey.
