WolfPack women’s soccer matches relocated due to wildfires

KAMLOOPS — A pair of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) women’s soccer matches this weekend have been relocated.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Aug. 22), Canada West announced the WolfPack women’s soccer club will play Mount Royal University Cougars at Trinity Western University’s north field in Langley on Friday and the University of Victoria Vikes at Ken Woods Field at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver on Saturday.

Both matches for TRU were originally scheduled to be played at home at Hillside Stadium, although Canada West says they had to be relocated due to non-essential travel restrictions in the Central Interior, along with air quality and safety concerns due to wildfires.

The WolfPack women’s soccer club is scheduled to play their next home match Friday, Sept. 8 against the University of Northern British Columbia.

Meanwhile the WolfPack men’s side open their season in the lower mainland for a pair of road matches against Trinity Western University on Friday and the University of Fraser Valley on Saturday. The men aren’t scheduled to play at home until Friday, Sept. 1 against the University of Victoria.
