Restrictions for non-essential travel in Central Interior

BRITISH COLUMBIA– Over the weekend, the provincial government issued an emergency order restricting non-essential travel.

The emergency order prohibits the use of temporary accommodations including hotels, motels, and campgrounds in the region.

According to the province, the restrictions are in place to ensure evacuees and emergency personnel have access to accommodations.

These restrictions will remain in place until the end of the day on Sept. 4.

While the order does not impact travel through other regions of B.C., the province is asking the public to avoid non-essential travel to the Central Interior and southeast of British Columbia, as roadways must remain clear for emergency operations.
