Kamloops EOC closes as crews edge closer to full containment of Ross Moore Lake wildfire
KAMLOOPS — While the Ross Moore Lake wildfire is still considered out of control, concern for the blaze seems to be dropping with news that the City of Kamloops has closed its Emergency Operations Centre.
As of noon Friday (Aug. 11), the BC Wildfire Service says the fire was measured at 7,249 hectares. It says improved visibility this week allowed crews to produce an updated track of the fire.
The BCWS says it will burn away some vegetation near Lac Le Jeune to secure the area. It says the move should set the stage for crews to have the fire under full containment before the temperatures heat up again next week.
There are 138 firefighters on the ground fighting the fire, aircraft and 35 pieces of heavy equipment working on the fire.
