City of Kamloops parks and trails reopen following recent rainfall and cooler temperatures
KAMLOOPS — The closure of all nature parks and trails within the City of Kamloops only lasted a week.
As of Friday (Aug. 11), the City says parks and trails will reopen thanks to recent rainfall and cooler weather reducing the fire danger rating.
“The fire risk is not gone,” Ken Uzeloc, Kamloops Fire Rescue chief says. “However, we understand how important outdoor recreation and active transportation are to our residents. Although we will need to re-evaluate the risks as the temperatures rise again next week, we felt it was important to open these spaces to our residents throughout the weekend as we experience some reprieve.”
