Wildfire ignites southeast of Little Fort

UPDATE (9 p.m.): The BC Wildfire Service says the Stolle Creek wildfire is being held at two hectares in size. Its suspected cause is unknown.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A new wildfire nearly three kilometres southeast of Little Fort was discovered Sunday (Aug. 6) afternoon.

In a social media post, the BC Wildfire Service says the Stolle Creek wildfire is estimated at around two hectares in size and is a moderately vigorous surface fire. It is highly visible to residents around Little Fort and drivers travelling on Highway 5 and surrounding areas.

The wildfire service says nine personnel and two helicopters are battling the fire. Additionally, the Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department says it’s responding to the fire with the Blackpool and Little Fort fire departments.
