KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are soliciting information from the public after a shooting on the North Shore Monday (July 31).

In a news release, Supt. Jeff Pelley says officers were called to the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue just before 5:30 p.m., where paramedics were attending to a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, a 40-year-old woman from Kamloops, was taken to the hospital for treatment. She remains in serious condition.

Pelley says Mounties flooded the area and brought in the Police Dog Unit, but could not locate a suspect.

The suspect is described as white man with a shaved head. He was wearing black shorts and a white tank top at the time.

“At this point we believe the victim and assailant were known to each other and this appears to have been a targeted shooting,” said Pelley.

The area remains cordoned off Tuesday afternoon and is expected to be released by the evening. Pelley says Mounties are still searching for clues and soliciting tips and information.

“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Schubert Drive and Richmond Ave between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Monday July 31, 2023 and has information to call us,” continued Pelley. “This includes anyone who may have been walking through the trail system, on the beach or traveling or resides on the roadway, and may have surveillance video.”

Anyone who may have further information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2023-27542.
