The incident happened during the 5:00 p.m. hour near the intersection of Schubert Drive and Richmond Avenue.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Cpl. Amedeo Vecchio of Kamloops RCMP said one victim was found with injuries, and was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment.

“We’re treating this as a serious scene,” said Vecchio. “The investigation is in its real infancy at this point. We’re trying to find out exactly what happened, where it happened and some details in order to start our coordinating investigative plan.”

Neighbours and passersby are being asked for dashcam or other relevant video.

While the police dog was out assisting officers, Vecchio noted no suspects have been identified or located.

“We utilize Police Dog Services for scenes where there may be persons of interest, finding articles or searching for people,” said Vecchio. “We like to be somewhat precautious in regards to that. Using a canine and the handler is another investigative tool in order to keep the public and the members safe.”

EARLIER: Kamloops RCMP have cordoned off a portion of the North Shore as officers investigate an apparent shooting.

The area cordoned off is near Richmond Avenue and Schubert Drive.

Neighbours report the incident began during the 5:00 hour Monday (July 31) with the sounds of gunshots.

CFJC Today has yet to receive comment from Kamloops RCMP. More information is expected Tuesday.
