Kamloops MP says cabinet shuffle doesn’t diminish PM’s responsibility for crime, affordability, housing crises

KAMLOOPS – Wednesday (July 26) morning’s cabinet shuffle was anticipated by many, including Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Frank Caputo, and while more than half of the cabinet saw changes, Caputo believes it wasn’t enough.

“This really does lay at the feet of Justin Trudeau and if we are thinking about who should have been shuffled out, really, it should have been him,” Caputo told CFJC News. “The responsibility for the cost of living, for crime, for the fact that we can’t get houses built, those three things are things that I hear about every day. Those things ultimately lay at his feet. With the help now of the NDP.”

One of the bigger changes was the removal of Justice Minister David Lametti.

Not only does Caputo serve on the justice portfolio for the Conservatives, but he and Lametti were also recently embroiled in a controversy about perceived threats.

In response to the shuffling of the cabinet, the shadow cabinet may see some changes as well.

“I don’t know what we are gonna see, we have three or four new MPs who will be coming on board in September so we will have to see what happens there,” Caputo said. “Ultimately I’ll play whatever role I’m asked to play for the team and for the people of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo.”
