Lower East Adams Lake wildfire sees significant growth in size overnight
KAMLOOPS — The Lower East Adams Lake wildfire saw dramatic growth in size overnight Saturday (July 22) and into Sunday (July 23).
In an update by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, the size of the fire is now at roughly 1,786 hectares as of 11:56 a.m. Sunday. 24 hours ago, the size of the wildfire was listed at 320 hectares.
The district says “Growth of the fire again continues primarily to the north, away from populated areas. There was some creeping of the fire on the south flank towards structures.”
Additionally, the district states terrain and access have been challenging on the blaze. The B.C. Wildfire Service has deemed the fire unsafe for firefighters and are unable to have ground personnel working on the wildfire at this time.
