Environment Canada issues heat warning for Kamloops heading into the weekend
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops and area will be feeling the heat heading into the weekend.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for the South Thompson region Thursday (July 20) morning. The advisory also covers communities such as Ashcroft and Cache Creek.
The weather agency states an unseasonably hot period will persist from Thursday until Friday with daytime temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees. Daytime highs are expected to drop to the low 30s this weekend.
Heat risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Residents are encouraged to check on older family, friends and neighbours, and make sure they are cool and drinking water.
