Fundraiser launched for Kamloops man seriously injured in attempt to save his step-daughter
KAMLOOPS — An online fundraiser has been launched for a Kamloops man who attempted to save his step-daughter from a fatal fall at the Akolkolex Falls near Revelstoke.
According to organizer Gordon Leary, Ryan Fisher suffered many severe injuries to his head, lungs, pelvis, ribs, spine and spleen.
The injuries come after Revelstoke RCMP reported a 15-year-old girl slipped on some rocks while she was hiking and fell into the falls Sunday (July 16) evening.
“Ryan raced to stop his step-daughter from falling, unfortunately he was too late and they both toppled over the edge,” Leary writes. “As a result, Ryan ended up on the rocks 70 feet below and his step-daughter didn’t survive. After upcoming surgeries, Ryan will be in the hospital for some time. Even after he returns home it will take a while for him to return to his work as a craftsman floor layer.”
