Grass fire, power outage in Aberdeen Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (11:45 a.m.): Power has been restored to the neighbourhood.

UPDATE (10:05 a.m.): Kamloops Fire Rescue says the fire has been extinguished. It’s believed to have been caused by a bird strike.

EARLIER: A fire beneath a power pole is believed to be related to a power outage in Aberdeen Wednesday morning (July 12).

The outage was reported just after 9:30 a.m.

According to the BC Hydro website, about 2,000 customers at the top of Aberdeen are without power.

Shortly after the outage was reported, Kamloops Fire Rescue crews responded to a grass fire near the top of Pacific Way.

There’s no word when power might be restored.
