Kamloops Islamic Association attempt to relocate Ayesha Mosque
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Islamic Association will appear as a delegation before the City Council on Tuesday (July 11) at 1:30 p.m. as an attempt to relocate Ayesha Mosque. The goal is to move it from its current rural location in Knutsford to within the City of Kamloops.
Over the last two decades the Association has made several attempts with the city staff assuring that a mosque in a new location within the city of Kamloops’ municipal limits will prompt immense benefits for the citizens of Kamloops, including retention of medical professionals.
“The growth of our outreach programs in the city have exceeded the capacity of our existing rural mosque in Knutsford. Without a central mosque location, the activities and community services that our Association has been providing have become limited and unable to grow,” the Association explained in a news release.
On Tuesday’s meeting, they will provide the City with an update of their initiatives and the potential for expansion of their programs with the growing community’s need for mosque relocation.
