Monday morning baseball bat assault report sent Mounties rushing to downtown Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a police presence in downtown Kamloops Monday morning (June 26) came after a report of a baseball bat beating.
In a news release, spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says RCMP received the call at about 9:05 a.m., near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Seymour Street.
Witnesses said they heard yelling, then saw a woman swinging a bat followed by a man emerging with another apparent weapon in his hand. The woman was then seen getting into a vehicle and driving eastbound in the alley toward Fifth Avenue.
“Officers located a victim who stated he had been sleeping on the stairs when he was struck and didn’t know who was responsible,” said Evelyn. “No notable injuries were reported.”
