SD73 Board of Education approves catchment changes for Brocklehurst and North Shore neighbourhoods
KAMLOOPS — Parents and students in the Brocklehurst and North Shore neighbourhoods will have a year to get caught up on their new catchment areas.
The School District 73 (SD73) Board of Education approved catchment changes and grade reconfigurations during its regular public board meeting on Monday (June 19). Among the notable changes includes both Brocklehurst Middle School and Norkam Senior Secondary becoming Grade 8-to-12 secondary schools.
In a news release, the board says the changes come following talks with stakeholders in Brocklehurst and on the North Shore that determined Brocklehurst Middle School was becoming too large in enrolment for a Grade 7-to-9 school.
Other changes include George Hilliard Elementary, AE Perry Elementary, Arthur Hatton Elementary, Bert Edwards Science and Technology, Kay Bingham Elementary, Rayleigh Elementary and the rebuilding Parkcrest Elementary Schools becoming kindergarten-to-Grade 7 schools.
