Kamloops Fire Rescue interested in new firefighters
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) is looking for fit, motivated residents who are committed to serving their community as career firefighters.
In a notice of interest for career firefighters, KFR encourages interested candidates to review the application requirements, forms and process before the job competition opens on Monday, June 5.
“Competition for firefighting employment in B.C. is fierce,” Scott Johnson, KFR assistant chief operations. “Providing a notice of interest to candidates gives candidates the time to gather all the appropriate information, forms, and tests that are needed to submit for a career position. The time provided allows applicants to triple-check that they have all the required materials since physical consent forms are also involved.”
KFR says firefighters cope with situations that range from structure fires to motor vehicle accidents to medical calls, which may occur at any time of day, seven days a week, in any kind of weather, and very often under potentially stressful and emotionally charged circumstances. Interested applicants are encouraged to possess courage, dedication, integrity, assertiveness, and a willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges.
