Significant rainfall forecast for North Thompson and Shuswap: Environment Canada
May 21, 2023 | 12:27 PM
KAMLOOPS — The North Thompson and Shuswap regions can expect to see heavy rainfall on Tuesday (May 23).
In a special weather statement online, Environment Canada says 20 to 40 millimetres of rain is forecast much of eastern B.C. – including Chase, Clearwater and Salmon Arm – with the highest amounts near the mountains, particularly east-facing slops.
The weather agency says light rain will begin Monday before becoming heavier Tuesday. With the rain comes risk of flooding and debris flow.
The forecast is due to a significant and low-pressure system developing over central Alberta that will spread into eastern B.C.
