United Way raising awareness around period poverty by collecting menstrual items
KAMLOOPS– The United Way is once again collecting menstrual products for its annual Period Promise initiative.
The campaign aims to raise awareness around period poverty, end the stigma around menstruating and provide products to those who need them in the community.
“If you don’t have product available to you when you need it, you are missing out on taking your kid to soccer or going to the gym or being able to stay at work, going to the grocery store,” Chelsea Ingram, United Way B.C.’s campaign manager for Thompson Nicola Cariboo told CFJC Today. “You are trapped at home and that can be very isolating.”
