KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 372 public complaints from Friday (May 5) to 9:00 a.m. on Monday (May 8). Below are some incidents police attended.

North (Shore) Pole crash

A man from Chase lost his license for 90 days and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days after he struck a utility pole and rolled over on the North Shore Sunday (May 7) evening.

RCMP say they were called to the 700-block of Sydney Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. and asked the driver to provide a breath sample, but he refused.

Police say refusing to provide a breath sample carries the same weight as exceeding a .08 blood alcohol content.

Grand Theft Auto: Aberdeen

RCMP responded to a storage facility on Hugh Allan Drive shortly before 7:00 p.m. Sunday after a person reportedly in possession of a gun took someone else’s vehicle and refused to return it to them.

Police arrested two suspects and seized several bags of suspected illegal drugs, but no gun was found.

The two suspects were released, pending the investigation’s conclusion.

Tk’emlups RCMP vehicle damaged

A Tk’emlups Rural RCMP vehicle was damaged just after midnight Monday when a person fled from officers during an investigation.

An officer was patrolling and saw a brown older model four-door Ford Fusion between two businesses on the 500-block of Mount Paul Way.

As the officer approached the vehicle, police say it began to move away. During a traffic stop, the officer saw drug paraphernalia and suspect weapons.

Police say a backup officer arrived, and the suspect fled in his vehicle and struck a police cruiser in the process.

Anyone with video or information is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at (250) 314-1800.
