North, South Thompson basins added to provincial high streamflow advisories

KAMLOOPS — The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) has added the North and South Thompson Rivers to its list of regions subject to high streamflow advisories.

In an alert issued Friday afternoon (May 5), the BCRFC says the advisory applies to the North Thompson and its tributaries near Barriere, Clearwater and Blue River. In addition, the advisory applies to the South Thompson and tributaries around Chase.

The province says weather forecasts call for the potential for significant rainfall over the weekend. If that occurs, it will present a “significant flood hazard” throughout the region.
