High streamflow advisories issued for Nicola River and Shuswap region
KAMLOOPS — Two new high streamflow advisories were issued for the Nicola River and Shuswap Region Thursday (May 4) morning.
The BC River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) says the advisories also include tributaries including Guichon Creek, Spius Creek, Coldwater River and surrounding areas including the Upper and Lower Nicola, and tributaries around Splatsin, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Enderby and surrounding areas.
BCRFC says it’s due to the long period of hot weather that’s expected to end Friday, and the potential for rainfall – up to 15 to 30 milimetres in areas – and cooling temperatures Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, a flood warning remains in effect for the Lower Thompson region and a flood watch remains in effect for the Salmon River including areas around Falkland and Salmon Arm.
