Millions in funding going towards wastewater projects in Chase and Cache Creek, drinking water system in Lytton

KAMLOOPS — The Village of Chase, the Village of Cache Creek and the Village of Lytton were big recipients in the latest round of infrastructure funding from the federal government.

In a news release issued Monday (April 17), the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) announced it has received $103.5 million from the federal government to support 45 infrastructure projects across the province.

Among them, $5,899,000 will go towards Chase’s second phase in the village’s wastewater treatment plant improvements, $5 million will go towards Lytton’s drinking water distribution system and $2,282,800 will go towards Cache Creek’s wastewater treatment plant improvements. Lytton also received $135,000 to increase its local government capacity to undertake long term infrastructure projects.

Elsewhere, for the drawing board, the City of Kamloops received $750,000 for its facilities strategic plan and the District of Clearwater received $111,340 for its integrated storm water management plan.
