Blazers among finalists for WHL Business Award

CALGARY — The Western Hockey league announced the division nominees for the WHL Business Award earlier Tuesday (April 4). The four nominees, each from one division, include the Kamloops Blazers, Edmonton Oil Kings, Spokane Chiefs and the Saskatoon Blades.

The award is presented annually to the club that has done the best at giving back to the community, as well as producing an electrifying game-day experience for fans.

Summaries were also provided by the league, which highlighted what each organization did over the season to earn a nomination.

The Blazers were highlighted for hosting the upcoming Memorial Cup along with game night initiatives like Autism Acceptance Night. Meanwhile, the Oil Kings and Chiefs were both recognized for having the two best game night attendance records across the league. Finally, the Blades put an emphasis on helping the community by donating 5,000 backpacks to inner city youth.
