Young man beaten, robbed of shoes in McArthur Island Park: RCMP

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses after a man was beaten and robbed of his shoes Monday (March 27) night.

In a news release issued Tuesday morning, police say they were called to McArthur Island Park at around 9:20 p.m. where a man in his late teens said he walked across the soccer field near the golf course when he was reportedly confronted by four people in masks and beaten with weapons.

Police say the people took his red and black shoes, then ran toward Holt Street beach. The man was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“According to the investigation so far, there may have been other people gathered in the park who may have witnessed the event,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says.
