RCMP confirm one person was sent to hospital with gun shot wounds after early morning shootout
KAMLOOPS — One person was sent to hospital with serious injuries after shots were fired in downtown Kamloops early Friday (March 24) morning. In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they received multiple reports of shots fired at around 2:30 a.m.
Police say they found an unlocked home on the 800-block of Battle Street along with signs that at least one firearm had been discharged. Kamloops RCMP staff sergeant Todd Wiebe confirmed that one person was transported to royal inland hospital with a gun shot wound.
“We do know that there was one person that was a victim of a gun shot, their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. At this time we have our general investigation team assigned to the file and they are canvassing the neighborhood looking for witnesses,” said Wiebe.
One person was detained at the scene, but Wiebe stated no arrests have been made at this time. Some of the people involved in the case are said to be known to police.
