RCMP investigating two thefts and assault in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — An Ontario man in his 30s is in custody after a reported assault and two thefts in Kamloops.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say officers were called to a business on the 300-block of St. Paul Street shortly after noon on Monday (Feb. 27) where a man had reportedly stolen a bottle of liquor then struck an employee who tried to stop him.
Less than an hour later, police were called to a store on the 900-block of Columbia Street West where a man was reported as screaming at people and throwing items in a parking lot. RCMP say they were then called to another robbery on the 1800-block of Highway 5A at around 2:05 p.m.
“The suspect in all three incidents appeared to be the same person,” Cpl Crystal Evelyn says. “Thanks to the assistance from community partners and the quick response of frontline officers, the suspect was located soon after at Summit Drive and Robson Street and taken into custody without further incident.”
