Accused Cache Creek killer re-arrested, charged with attempting to obstruct justice

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — A man accused in a 2019 Cache Creek murder had his trial postponed this week — just as it was about to begin — and is now facing new charges.

Corey Harkness is facing a single count of second degree murder in the Jan. 14, 2019 shooting death of Brock Ledoux at a home on Collins Road in Cache Creek.

Jury selection took place at the Kamloops courthouse last week and Harkness’ trial was set to begin Tuesday (Feb. 7).

However, Crown spokesman Dan McLaughlin confirms Harkness was arrested and charged with attempting to obstruct justice and breach of a release order.

Harkness, who was out on bail at the time of his arrest, now has another bail hearing set for Feb. 21. At that time, the parties will also fix a new trial date.
