Wolfpack swept in rare TCC triple-header

KAMLOOPS — For the first time this season, the TRU WolfPack played a triple-header at the TCC.

It’s all started with WolfPack School day as almost 1,000 students from across SD73 watched the ‘Pack take on the reigning National Champs from Alberta.

The Golden Bears would dispatch TRU in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-14).

The two sides will face off again Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm.

The women’s team had a bye this weekend and did not play.

In the evening it was the turn of WolfPack Basketball to take center stage.

The men were in tough versus a Nationaly ranked UVIC Vikes squad. TRU was able to keep things close in the first quarter, trailing 25-19 after one, but then Victoria showed why they are the second best team in the Nation heading into half-time up 49-33. The Vikes would win 96-59.

Asher Mayan led the way for TRU with 18 points.

The women’s game followed a similar script, with TRU keeping it close through the first quarter then falling behind to a powerful Vikes attack. Victoria taking the contest 71-45.

Kelsey Cruz had 11 to lead the offense.

Both the men’s and women’s teams get a chance at redemption on Saturday.
