Stankoven scores hat trick and overtime winner, Blazers come back and beat Americans 6-5
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers salvaged their weekend against the Tri-City Americans with a 6-5 overtime win on Saturday (Jan. 21) from Sandman Centre.
After dropping an 8-2 game to Tri-City the night prior, the Blazers found themselves trailing 3-1 after two periods.
In what was as wild a third period as 5,129 fans could ask for, the Blazers crawled back to tie the game 3-3. Fraser Minten tipped in an Olen Zellweger shot from the point and Logan Stankoven wristed the puck home from between atop the slot.
But as quickly the Blazers tied the game, the Americans retook the lead, going up 5-3 with 5:55 remaining.
