Police dog aids in the arrest of two in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS β A pair of suspects proved to be no match for the RCMP dog unit this morning (Dec. 16) in Kamloops.
In a news release, RCMP say police first spotted a stolen vehicle being driven on the Halston Connector Road. Then the vehicle was spotted again near 12th street. Police allege the driver steered the vehicle towards a police cruiser, narrowly missing it.
Police were able to catch up with the vehicle near MacDonald Park. A man and a woman fled from the vehicle in an effort to escape arrest. The woman was caught after a brief foot chase while police dog Neeka helped to locate the man.
βThe man and driver of the vehicle, was located hiding under a trailer in a residence in the 500-block of MacKenzie Ave by Police Dog Neeka,β stated Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP. Following a brief struggle, the man was taken into custody.
