Kamloops man arrested in connection to 2021 Columbia Street homicide

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP has arrested a man believed to be in connection with a homicide at the Howard Johnson Motel in 2021.

On Saturday (December 3) after more than a year, a person has been connected to an incident where shots were fired at a Columbia Street motel resulting in one person dying.

On February 13, 2021, around 7:50 p.m., the incident occurred. The Serious Crime Unit was then called in to handle the investigation with the aid of the Forensic Identification Services and General Investigation Support Team.

Lukas Wade Anderson, 29, of Kamloops, was arrested Saturday following the approval of an arrest warrant for his alleged role in the shooting.

Anderson has been charged with one count of manslaughter with a firearm.

The RCMP release states that no further information will be provided regarding the investigation as Anderson will soon be appearing before the courts.
