QUESNEL, B.C. — A pair of drug busts in Quesnel Thursday night.

RCMP say a traffic stop at 6:30 p.m. led to the arrest of two women for possession of a controlled substance.

A search also yielded a loaded shotgun. One of the woman also had four outstanding warrants for her arrest. She remains in police custody, the other woman was released pending further investigation.

Just two-and-a-half hours later, RCMP pulled over a second vehicle on the 200 block of Anderson Drive.

The car turned out to be stolen with police seizing 36 grams of meth, 26 grams of heroin, a handgun, ammunition, body armour, and over 19,000 in cash. Both have been released pending further investigation.

“These vehicle stops are examples of the inherent dangers involved in police work. We never know what we will be dealing with when conducting something as simple as a vehicle stop,” says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

“The good work done by the police officers involved, has led to more drugs and guns being removed from the street, in a continued effort to keep the community safe.”
