MERRITT, B.C. — A threats complaint in downtown Kamloops led RCMP to arrest a man wanted on a warrant Wednesday morning (Nov. 23).

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to the alley near Second Avenue and Lansdowne Street at about 8:28 a.m. The complainant told police a person who had been asked to leave the area responded by making threats involving a gun, indicating he had a weapon.

“While police were investigating, they detained three people, one of whom appeared to be reaching for a weapon and then ran,” said Evelyn. “With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, a suspect was located in a dumpster near Third Avenue and Lorne Street and was arrested without further incident.”

The man who was arrested was not the original threats suspect but was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
