Wanted Man Arrested

Man wanted on province-wide warrant arrested in Merritt early Wednesday morning

MERRITT, B.C. — Ronald Gerald James Karlson, a man wanted on a B.C.-wide warrant, was arrested in Merritt earlier Wednesday (Nov. 23) morning.

In a news release, Merritt RCMP say they were called to the area of Voght Street and Priest Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a suspicious person.

Upon arrival, police say officers saw a man kick-in the back door of a house and rush inside. The home’s occupants were later evacuated by police.

After a lengthy standoff, RCMP say Karlson exited the house and was safely taken into custody. Sgt. Josh Roda with Merritt RCMP says no one was injured.

Karlson is in custody and his matter is before the courts. His arrest warrant was issued on Nov. 15 after he was seen in Merritt a day earlier.
