Man found dead in water near Riverside Park
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are investigating after a man was found dead in the Thompson River near Riverside Park over the weekend.
In a news release issued Tuesday (Nov. 1) morning, police say officers were called near the pickle ball courts in Riverside Park Saturday (Oct. 29) at around 2:20 p.m. where a possible body was seen in the water around 30 to 40 feet from shore. The RCMP Forensic Identification Services Unit used its drone to confirm there was a dead person, and with the help from Kamloops Fire Rescue, brought them to shore.
“Based on the initial investigation, the person appears to have been in the water for some time,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says. “Police are working on confirming identification and contacting next of kin.”
