Kamloops Know Your Neighbour Walk encourages inclusivity

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops’ Sikh community on the North Shore is celebrating the “Know Your Neighbour Walk” on Saturday (October 22) to connect Kamloops residents together.

The event gives people a chance to have a conversation with other community members and, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, locals can participate and meet people from all walks of life.

“For far too long, we’ve been kind of shut inside doing face-to-face zoom meetings and that kind of thing and not really connecting person to person. I think we’re all human we need to realistically connect with each other face to face,” says Sikh Community member Peter Samra.

Members of the public can step out of their comfort zones to meet new people while honouring the ideals the Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught as part of the Sikh faith with the idea of togetherness expressed through the event.

“We are one big family and we need to connect with each other and that was the paramount message he not only practiced that but that’s what he conveyed as well,” Samra adds.
