Blackwell defeats Clifford in Clearwater; two newcomers elected to council

CLEARWATER, B.C. — Incumbent Merlin Blackwell has easily held off challenger Dean Clifford to retain the mayor’s chair in Clearwater.

Blackwell defeated Clifford by a margin of 88.1 per cent to 11.2 per cent.

Four incumbents will return to Blackwell’s council — Shelley Sim, Lyle Mackenzie, Lynne Frizzle and Bill Haring.

They will be joined by newcomers Ken Matheson and Theresa Braaten.
