Blazers cruise to 5-2 win over Royals, give HC Clouston 500th WHL win

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers got goals from five different players in a 5-2 victory over the Victoria Royals at Sandman Centre Friday (Oct. 7).

The win marked Blazers Coach Shaun Clouston’s 500th behind a WHL bench, making Clouston just the 10th coach to reach that mark in league history. The all-time winningest coach in the WHL is Blazers’ Associate Coach Don Hay.

Dylan Sydor, Caedan Bankier, Emmitt Finnie, Connor Levis and Ethan Brandwood got the goals for Kamloops. Dylan Ernst made 23 stops in the Blazer goal.

Kamloops moves to 2-and-1 on the season, while Victoria has opened its season with six straight losses.

The game got a little chippy near the final buzzer, setting the mood for the rematch Saturday at Sandman Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
