TRU and Kamloops community booster launch $1 million scholarship campaign
KAMLOOPS — A $1 million financial pool campaign has been launched to support post-secondary students in the Interior.
In a news release issued Thursday (Oct. 6) morning, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) says its Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics, and longtime Kamloops resident Norm Daley, are inviting 30 donors to contribute $35,000 each.
TRU says each donation would go into an endowment. Through its interest earned, the donation would provide a yearly $1,400 award or scholarship to a student in either their family or business name, or in honour or a person or organization of their choosing.
“For years, being in business, I have seen the benefits of having TRU within our community,” Daley says. “With the cost of education and the cost of living today, these students need our help to ensure that we have people in the workforce moving forward.”
