COLLINS: Don’t underestimate Putin’s lunacy

Oct 2, 2022 | 9:25 AM

ANY LOGICAL PERSON WOULD SAY, ‘Surely Vladimir Putin would not be so stupid as to use nuclear missiles in Russia’s war with Ukraine. Surely he wouldn’t risk nuclear fallout in an area he was trying to take control of.’

Simple answers: he would and he will. Putin’s hunger for power has proven to be such that nothing is impossible.

He has been embarrassed by the pushback from Ukrainian counterattacks and he is causing havoc in his own country by trying to mobilize 300,000 additional troops. That is causing a large exodus from the country and protests against conscription.

As the great Russian Bear has been humiliated and his world status has been somewhat eroded, Putin has taken to threats against the West and several times has threatened the possibility of using the country’s nuclear arsenal to advance his causes.

Don’t sell him short. He is getting more desperate and since there are few controls over his power. Save a possible coup of some sort, anything can happen. And it probably will. Not to be the bearer of doom and gloom, but when you are pinned against the wall your sense of logic disappears.

The West doesn’t want to start the battle, but Putin seems to be ready to start it no matter what the West does or doesn’t do.

So be prepared. And remember that if we have all this evidence against Donald Trump and his misdeeds and we have failed to act, do we have the guts to take on a man who is bent on getting his way even if he has to start another world war? Probably not.

Putin has the Western world trembling. We think he will come to his senses before Armageddon. I am not sure he has a way to save face now. It could well be already later than we think.

I’m Doug Collins and that’s One Man’s Opinion.
