KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a Westsyde homeowner was assaulted in a frightening home invasion Wednesday (Sept. 28).

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to a home in the 1900-block of Westsyde Road at about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday.

The caller said a woman allegedly entered a stranger’s home and assaulted the occupant with a weapon.

“According to the report, the homeowner heard a noise inside their house, went to see what it was, and discovered a strange woman near the kitchen,” said Evelyn. “When the homeowner told the woman to leave and that she was calling police, the suspect allegedly hit her with an object, then attempted to assault her with a knife. The homeowner was eventually able to get the woman out, but not before the suspect grabbed a bag of potatoes from the kitchen.”
