LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — There will be a race to become the mayor of Logan Lake.

Ahead of nominations closing for B.C. municipal elections on Sept. 9, a list from CivicInfo BC shows two candidates to become Logan Lake’s mayor: incumbent Robin Smith and challenger Jacqueline Newman.

Smith, who received the most votes for council in 2008 and 2011, became mayor via acclamation in 2014 and was acclaimed again in 2018. With Newman’s nomination, the District of Logan Lake will have a mayoral race for the first time since 2008.

Rounding out the rest of Logan Lake’s council race, incumbents Marion Bell, Peter Martell, Al Smith and Garry Youd will seek re-election, while Amber Chong and Claire Newman will not.
