Long weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes stolen lower mainland vehicle, Pioneer Park assault, and drug seizure

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 545 public complaints from midnight Friday (Sept. 2) to 9 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 6). Below are some incidents police attended.

New Westminster vehicle found

A vehicle reported missing out of New Westminster was found on the North Shore during an impaired driving investigation.

Shortly before noon on Saturday, Kamloops RCMP attended the 1800-block of Tranquille Road where a man in a green SUV was allegedly doing drugs in the driver’s seat.

Both occupants were taking into custody on arrest warrants and later released following a bail hearing.

Pioneer Park assault

A teenager was assaulted during a party at Pioneer Park Saturday evening.

Officers responded to the park at around 10:30 p.m. where the teen had reportedly been shot with an airsoft gun.

Police say the victim had left but was later found with minor injuries. No suspect was found.

Anyone who witnessed the alleged assault, or has information related to it, is asked to contact he Kamloops RCMP.

Drugs and weapons seized on North Shore

Batons and brass knuckles were some of the weapons found on the North Shore early Monday morning.

An officer on the 200-block of Tranquille Road at 5 a.m. saw an apparent drug deal. Upon further investigation, RCMP say they found and seized weapons, suspected meth and other illegal drugs, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Three people were arrested and released at scene, pending the ongoing investigation and subsequent charge recommendation.
