Kamloops RCMP to face Special Olympics athletes in fundraising softball game
Sep 8, 2022 | 4:47 PM
Kamloops law enforcement officers will be taking the field against a local Special Olympics Softball Team next week in an effort to raise funds for the organization.
The game between local officers and Special Olympics athletes was organized in part by Kamloops RCMP’s Cst. Sofie Winkles, who also organized the detachment’s part in the Summer Games Torch Run six years ago.
“It was the coolest, most uplifting thing I’ve been to,” said Cst. Winkles. “A lot of what we (police) deal with is negative and this is just so happy and positive. The Special Olympics are just a great organization that I love to support.”
The game will be held next Wednesday, September 14, 6:00 p.m. at Norbrock Stadium. Admission is by donation.
