Mail-in voting will be offered for the upcoming municipal election in Kamloops, but voters will need to register ahead of time to take advantage.

The City of Kamloops says registration opened Tuesday morning (Sept. 6).

Those who would like to vote by mail must complete a form and submit it to the city’s Chief Election Officer.

To register to vote by mail, visit the City’s website, drop by City Hall or email the Chief Election Officer at election@kamloops.ca.

Forms will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. If they apply by October 2, they can choose to have their ballot packages mailed to them. Those who register after October 2 will need to collect their packages from City Hall.

Ballots and documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer before the close of voting on General Election Day, October 15. They cannot simply be post-marked before that time. Ballots received after the close of voting on Oct. 15 will not be counted.
