Grassfire developing in lower Aberdeen, residents asked to avoid Hillside Drive

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops residents are asked to avoid the Hillside Drive area from Notre Dame Drive to Hillside Way due to a grassfire along the hillside of Cariboo Place Industrial Park.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews were called to the interface fire just off Hillside Drive in the lower Aberdeen Area Wednesday (Aug. 31) morning where smoke and flames are visible from around the city.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP says drivers should expect delays as traffic is restricted from the area while KFR responded.

Additionally, the City of Kamloops says transit routes No. 4, 5, and 7 are on detour via the highway from Columbia Street and Summit Drive to Pacific Way. The City says transit will not access Aberdeen Mall for the time being.
